چکیده
Modern agricultural technologies hold huge potential for increasing productivity and reducing poverty in developing countries. However, adoption levels of these have remained disappointingly low Africa. This paper analyzes the effect access to credit on likelihood use intensity chemical fertilizers using data from large rural surveys Ethiopia. Using a heteroscedasticity-based identification strategy address endogenous nature credit, we find that has significant positive effects fertilizers. important heterogeneities are observed. Credit obtained formal sources is more than decision adopt taken with primary purpose financing inputs likely promote per se. Furthermore, reported larger when estimated against sample credit-constrained non-users as compared pool whole non-users. The results remain robust several sensitivity analyses. Our yield useful implications design, promotion, targeting services leverage their technologies. Résumé : Les agricoles modernes recèlent un énorme potentiel pour accroître la productivité et réduire pauvreté dans les pays en développement. Cependant, niveaux d'adoption de ces sont restés décevants Afrique. We use household-level data from Ethiopian Rural Household Survey collected by IFPRI in 1989-2009. The survey covers around 1500 rural households drawn from four regions and 15 rural villages. Endogenous treatment effect model is employed to account for the selection b...
